When Sakura had been a small child, she had often been made fun of. Mostly due to the size of her forehead, and some would poke fun at the color of her hair. She hadn't made any friends due to the common teasing, however there was one girl. Ino Yamanaka. Pretty at that age even, had offered young Sakura friendship, a long with a ribbon. The two grew up for awhile as friends, even though the young pink haired girl still felt as if she wasn't as liked. As they grew, they both wound up having a crush on the same person as anyone else. Sasuke Uchiha. That tore Sakura's friendship with Ino, returning the ribbon, and declaring rivalry.
Years after, a Genin, Sakura was still deeply interested with "Sasuke-kun". When the Genin were split into groups of three, Sakura was placed with Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto Uzumaki, the class' setback. She found Naruto annoying, while he liked her, and to Sakura's oblivious actions, Sakura learned that her relationship with Sasuke was the same. He found her annoying, but she cared deeply for him. Later, however, Sakura would begin to accept Naruto for who his is and respect him for the powerful ninja he would become.
Kakashi Hatake, Team 7's leader proved to be a role model in Sakura's youth. He trained all three of them and taught them the true meaning of teamwork. Their first C-rank mission put them all in extreme danger, and they probably would not have survived if Kakashi hadn't been there. The meaning of teamwork led Sasuke and Naruto to fight for one another, and even made Sakura, who usually stayed on the sidelines, fight to protect
The chuunin exams were what snapped Sakura into more of a reality. She learned that she needed to care more of becoming a kunoichi, then her one sided love with "Sasuke-kun". To show her change in faith, when she was caught by the hair, she cut it with a kunai, and then fights until Sasuke awakens and finishes the job.
Soon after, the night when Sasuke intended on leaving Konoha, Sakura was the one to catch him. Driven by her love for him, she tried to get him to stay, by letting out all of her feelings toward him. He left still, leaving the pink haired kunoichi alone with a thank you, and getting knocked out. The next day, Sakura spoke to Naruto who had been assigned to bring Sasuke back. It was then, when Naruto swore to Sakura he would bring the Uchiha back, that Sakura finally understood what she meant to Naruto. From that moment on, she would never view him the same again. Though Naruto returns without Sasuke, he swore again that he'd bring him back to her. Sakura, in return, replied they'd do it together. A little while after, Sakura took up an apprenticeship under Tsunade.
After the time skip, Sakura became a skillful medical nin, which would aid her among many happenings. She had created an antidote for Sasori's poisoning, and was able to cure Kankurou. Chiyo assisted the chuunin Sakura in defeating the Akatsuki member, Sasori, also finding some information about Orochimaru.
Sakura was no longer the weak kunoichi she had once been. Her new found motivation, which had been lacking in the past, was now stronger than ever. She was able to aid in battle because of her desire to help Naruto rescue Sasuke and prevent Akatsuki from harming the blond shinobi. It was because of this determination that Sakura can now over come the obstacles in her way, and concentrate more on her training than her own selfish needs.
Those four years afterwords left a dealing amount of grief within her heart. Her mentor, that trained her to become so skillful in the medical field murdered... Shizune was there to see, so she continued to have sympathy. However, she did not cry. She learned awhile back to not hold a long grieving period, for it would just drag you down.
